If consumers conclude a contract through your website or app, usually yes. Exempt are pure information sites, B2B-only offers and micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 employees and at most €2 million turnover that sell services. If the first call already makes clear that it does not apply, I tell you there.
Accessibility audits for web apps and shops.
The Austrian Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. It covers websites and apps on which consumers conclude a contract: shops, bookings, appointments, subscriptions. Pure information sites, B2B-only offers and micro-enterprises selling services are exempt. In its first year the authority opened 84 proceedings.
The audit shows where your application locks people out and what fixing it costs. I test the flows that matter with keyboard, screen reader and automated checks. You get a written report with a plan. I fix the code, or your team does it with the plan in hand.

Core Flows
Home page, search, product or service page, forms, login, checkout or booking through to the confirmation. The sample follows the W3C evaluation method WCAG-EM.
Keyboard and Screen Reader
Every flow once without a mouse and once with a screen reader. That is where focus traps, unlabelled buttons and error messages nobody hears show up.
Automated Checks
axe-core across every page type, for contrast, missing names and broken structure. Automated tools find only part of the problems, so here they are one step, not the audit.
Components and Code
Each finding is traced to its cause: the component, the template, the library. A fix in the button component fixes it on every page.
Plan and Statement
The findings sorted by severity and effort, each with its WCAG criterion. Plus a draft of the accessibility information the law requires you to publish.
HOW IT RUNS
Audit
Three working days at a fixed €2,900 plus VAT. Access to a staging environment or the live site is enough. Read access to the repository helps to find causes. The result is the written report with the plan.
Fixes
Carried out along the plan, by me or by your team. The quote for it comes from the estimate in the report, and the audit fee is credited against it.
Staying Accessible
Optional afterwards: accessibility checks in your CI, so new features do not bring old errors back, and a review once a year. The law requires accessibility to hold when the service changes.
WHY AN AUDIT, NOT A PLUGIN
A widget laid over the page does not repair the code underneath. In 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission ordered one overlay vendor to pay 1 million dollars for claiming otherwise.
Whoever cannot finish the checkout without a mouse leaves. The fixes help people with disabilities first, and everyone who works with a keyboard, zoom or in bright sunlight along the way.
In its first year the authority imposed no fine and advises first. That is the time to fix barriers calmly instead of against a deadline.
