Accessibility Statement

Summary

This website aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA and currently meets it in part. The Austrian Accessibility Act does not apply to it, because no contracts with consumers are concluded here, so this statement is voluntary. Every page is checked automatically in both languages, the known limitations are listed below, and you can report any barrier through the contact details in the imprint.

1. Scope

This statement covers pushingpixels.at in English and German, including the case studies and their interactive demos.

2. Legal framework

The Austrian Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz, BaFG) has applied since 28 June 2025. For websites it covers services through which consumers conclude a contract online, such as shops and bookings. This website presents my services and receives inquiries. No contract is concluded on it. I publish this statement anyway, in the structure I recommend to clients.

3. Standard

The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This includes WCAG 2.1 AA, the level the harmonised standard EN 301 549 refers to today.

4. Status and method

Status: partially conformant. Last check: 21 September 2026.

An automated check with axe-core tests every page in both languages at desktop and phone width, against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules at levels A and AA. It runs automatically on every build, and a new version only reaches the staging server once it passes. The result of the last check is public: test report, also linked in the Site Health panel in the footer.
Automated tests find only part of all barriers. What they cannot judge, such as whether a description makes sense, needs a person. The limitations below come from such manual checks.

5. What is in place

A skip link to the content as the first element of every page.
A visible focus outline on links, buttons, form fields and scrollable areas.
Text contrast of at least 4.5:1, including the small labels in the demos.
Animations follow the system setting for reduced motion: content appears at once and the demos do not start by themselves.
The page language is set on every page, so screen readers use the right pronunciation.
The interactive demos use native buttons and form controls and report their result in a text summary that screen readers announce.

6. Known limitations

The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. It usually runs unseen. If it asks for a check, its accessibility is in Cloudflare's hands. Email and phone in the imprint work without it.
The demo in the case study on PDF generation shows a scaled-down A4 page. Its text is deliberately tiny. The title you type and the resulting font size are also shown as regular text next to the page.
Some demos show tables and diagrams with many values. They work with the keyboard, but can take longer to follow with a screen reader than the text around them, which describes the same result.

8. Conciliation

If you feel discriminated against because of a barrier, you can apply for a conciliation procedure under the Federal Disability Equality Act (Bundes-Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz) at the Sozialministeriumservice.
